The Salesian Missionaries arrived in Zimbabwe in 1995 and settled in Harare before deciding to open a mission in Hwange in 2000. Don Bosco Technical School was opened in 2007 by the Catholic Church’s Salasians of Don Bosco Trust to offer vocational technical courses. Continue reading

21 November is a memorable day for the Presentation Sisters as they celebrate the feast day of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The feast became unusually important this year as it was combined with the commemoration of the tercentenary of the anniversary of the birth of their foundress, Nano Nagle born in Ireland in 1718. This day, the congregation celebrates Nano Nagle’s legacy and selfless love in restoring the dignity of humanity. Continue reading

It was pomp and funfair at Jambanja Unit M in Chitungwiza on Saturday the 17th of November 2018. The Zimbabwe Catholic Bishops Conference Health Commission led by Sister Salome Mateko and Sister Sanyika from the Archdiocese of Harare Health Desk in partnership with Misereor and Chitungwiza Municipality took to the streets to raise awareness on the cholera pandemic following the outbreak which hit the country especially Harare’s Glenview and Budiriro suburbs. Brian Nyahuma provided edutainment to the people who actively participated in song and dance as they gained more knowledge on how to combat the disease. Continue reading

A golden jubilee is always an occasion of thanksgiving and celebration, and on the 17 of November 2018 it was noteworthy. Bishop Emeritus Alexio Churu Muchabaiwa, celebrated a mass of thanksgiving at Holy Trinity Cathedral in Mutare Diocese on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his priestly ordination. MARY MOUNT SCHOOL OPENS AFTER FORCED CLOSURE BY THE WAR

Mary Mount High School reopened its doors in 2016 after forced closure at the height of the liberation struggle in 1978. The school which closed as a primary school reopened as a high school with forms 1and 5 with 65 students. Now the school has forms 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 and the first group of upper 6 students set for examinations in 2017. Continue reading
